About the Weird Art Zine

The Weird Art Zine is a 16+ zine about a bunch of weirdos coming together to make something great.We want this to be a safe space for contributors to explore strange topics and express the freaky parts of themselves. It’s about things that usually get you outcasted from social spaces, even online ones.All the work in this zine is going to be original. There will be no fandoms or fan characters, but you’re welcome to create something new! Whether it be objecthead arts (like our mascot), cringy poetry, or just a depiction of why you think you’re weird, it’s all welcome here!

Do you need prior zine experience to apply?
No, zine experience is not necessary and will not affect your application.Will there be pinch hitters / fill-in / backup creators?
Yes! Pinch hitters were accepted during the application period and will be contacted should any accepted contributors drop out.Is this zine going to be physical?
No! This zine will be all digital, including the merch!Speaking of merch, is there going to be any?

What is a fanzine?
A fanzine is an unofficial collection of fan works including fanart and writing based on a common idea, in this case, any art that might be labelled "weird", "cringe" or "abnormal". Relish in your individuality with us!What type of content will be featured in the zine?
The zine is aimed at representing the weirdest art in your head, but there are content guidelines!Gore (candy, cartoony, or otherwise), artistic nudity, swearing,
SFW relationships, Fade-to-Black are allowed!Romantic depictions of incest or extreme age gaps, explicit sexual content, underage nudity, use of generative AI and proship/antiship discourse are not allowed.

Will contributors be allowed to collaborate?
Yes! Feel free to make art or writing in teams.What is the creation process like?
The mod team will review your ideas and approve them.
There will also be regular progress check-ins to ensure that contributors are on track to complete their piece(s) by the end of the creation period.How detailed should the pitches be?
Your pitches should be detailed enough that we know what you’d like to create.You will be accepted to the project regardless of if you have a pitch in mind—assuming requirements are met—but we’d like to know if you do have anything in mind.If you get in and end up not liking it, you will be welcome to change it.
